Wild Game Processing
A great instructional video on how to skin a deer for taxidermy purposes. Same method applies for most game animals. Demonstrated with a deer hanging up by hind legs.
If you are going to be at camp for several days, it is important to cape the hide off of the skull. Above freezing temperatures and moisture are your enemy. Remember COLD & DRY!!!
If you are in the field and do not have access to a hanging tree, being able to effectively cape an animal for taxidermy puposes is a must. This method can be applied to most species.
All high country animals are well insulated. Both meat spoilage and hair slippage can occur if not cooled quickly and properly.
